EA FC 26: How to Unlock More Archetypes in Clubs

EA Sports FC 26 has introduced some fairly major changes to the popular ‘Clubs’ game mode, where up to 11 players can take control of one player on a team and face off against another team to see who comes out on top. With divisions to progress through, player attributes to develop, and a host of customization options, it’s become one of the more popular game modes in the EA Sports FC franchise. However, with the reworking of player upgrades in the form of Archetypes and Attribute Points, there’s some confusion around how to unlock more Archetypes in EA FC 26‘s Clubs mode.

In the past, your Clubs player has earned Skill Points by leveling up through earning experience. This experience was earned by playing matches and performing well. These Skill Points could then be invested in attribute upgrades for various skill trees. It allowed players to create players that were well-suited to various positions, and they could create multiple ‘builds’ of their player.

In EA FC 26, this has changed slightly. Now, players will have to pick from one of a few Archetypes when first creating their player. This will then give them a ‘foundation’ of attributes and generally means that they’ll suit a certain role. For example, a Target Man is ideal for someone playing at Striker, whereas as a Recycler is better suited to a Central Defensive Midfielder.

Unlocking More Archetypes in EA FC 26 Clubs

There are three ways to unlock Archetypes for your Clubs player: buying them with Coins, buying them with EA Sports FC Points, or using an Archetype unlock token. I’ll explain more about each of these methods below.

Buying Archetypes with Coins or EA Sports FC Points

I’ve bundled these two together because they’re pretty much the same. If you go to the ‘Player’ menu within the Clubs game mode, and select ‘Archetypes,’ you can see all 13 available. To buy one, simply select it with the left analog stick. On the right-hand side of this screen, you’ll then see the ability to ‘Use 25,000 Coins’ and ‘Use 200 EA Sports FC Points’ under the ‘Unlock Archetype’ heading.

Select either of these (as long as you have the required currency), and you’ll be able to confirm your purchase.

Unlocking with Archetype Unlock Tokens

Just below both of the currency options, you’ll see another unlock method, which has a silver token icon next to it. This is an Archetype Unlock token. These can be earned by completing objectives, or as a reward for leveling up the EA Sports FC 26 Season Pass. For example, a token is unlocked after reaching level 14 on the Season Pass.

Your Season Pass progression is across all game modes, so you don’t need to worry about just grinding out Clubs matches.

How to Level Up Archetypes in EA FC 26 Clubs

Archetypes are only leveled up when you use them. Any experience earned in a match will convert to Attribute Points, which can only be used to upgrade the attributes for that specific Archetype. To level up an Archetype, go to the Player menu, select Edit Archetypes, choose the Archetype you’re currently using, and select ‘Edit.’

You can now select an attribute you’d like to upgrade and use Attribute Points to level it up. The amount of Attribute Points required will depend on the current level of the stat. For example, if your Sprint Speed stat is only 70, it’ll likely cost you one Attribute Point to upgrade it by one. However, if it’s already at 85, increasing the stat by one may require 12 Attribute Points.

Once you’ve assigned your Attribute Points to upgrades, select the confirm option at the bottom of the screen and your Archetype will be upgraded.

Using custom tactics in Clubs is a great way to improve the way your team plays if you’re using the AI to control some of your team.
